Introduction to PTLs

What is a Long-Term Thematic Project (LTP)?

A PTL is designed to develop initiatives aimed primarily at the teams that make up its core division:

  • To bring together, among the consortium’s research units based at the Montpellier site, a diverse range of research expertise aimed at fostering new frontiers in science and generating new knowledge;
  • To implement, over the long term, a high-level scientific initiative, guided by a streamlined and effective governance structure, that can help foster a process of organizational development centered on the PTL’s core theme;
  • Support education in and for research at the PhD master’s levels.

The PTLS of the CHEMISTRY Cluster

The I-SITE Excellence Program, led by the University of Montpellier, has decided to provide strong support for research by establishing Long-Term Thematic Projects (PTLs).

After consulting with our community, two PTLs in Chemistry emerged.

The first in the field of sustainable chemistry for health (CARLA) and the second in the field of sustainable chemistry for energy (CHIMENE).

The PTLs in the Chemistry Research Cluster are part of the Cluster’s overarching approach, which aims to implement an ambitious recruitment strategy designed to leverage other funding sources with high national and international visibility, thereby attracting and training a new generation of
